Project “Eden” in Israel
Eden Residential Home for Girls was established in 2005 and serves as a framework for psychotherapeutic treatment of vulnerable and traumatized girls aged 12-18.
The girls are recommended there by the Israel Youth Authority. Currently there are about 65 traumatized girls living in 'Eden'. They are all deeply traumatized by the neglect and abuse they have experienced. The girls arrive in a state of confusion and emotional imbalance and have difficulty performing daily and routine tasks, for example, getting up, going to school and showering. However, each of the girls has the potential for building a healthy and positive life for themselves.
The facility is located in the heart of Kibbutz Carmia, about 5 miles south of the city of Ashkelon, In "Eden", the girls, can experience the benefits of a quiet, rural environment and a small, warm and welcoming community.
They had to be evacuated from the kibbutz because of Hamas rocket fire on Israel. This is very difficult for the already traumatized girls. They now have to leave again a place that has become their home. It took 20,000 euros to evacuate them. The Frankfurt Schönstädt Lodge was immediately willing to cover the cost of 20,000 euros.
